We welcome you at Pristina Airport and transfer to Peja for hotel check-in. Visit the Patriarchate of Peja, a UNESCO-protected Medieval Monument in Kosovo. This complex, built from the early 13th century and completed around the early 14th century, was the spiritual seat and mausoleum of Serbian archbishops and patriarchs. It is renowned for its exceptional architecture and stunning frescoes. Overnight in Peja.
After breakfast, head to Prizren with stops at notable religious monuments. First, visit the Monastery of Decan, a UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its beautiful frescoes. The cathedral of the monastery shares Roman Catholic church features, as its architect was a Catholic priest from Kotor. The monks here make their own cheese and wine. Continue to Gjakova, where we will explore the old bazaar (the oldest in Kosovo) and visit the Hadum Aga Mosque, built in the late 16th century with stunning floral and Arabesque motifs. In Prizren, see the Stone Bridge, Sinan Pasha Mosque (1615), and the Old Bazaar. Overnight in Prizren.
After breakfast, drive from Prizren to Skopje through Sharr National Park. Stop in Brezovica, a beautiful ski resort for a walk in the forest. Continue to Skopje where we will visit the Kale Fortress, which overlooks the Vardar River, and walk through Çarshia, Skopje’s old bazaar. Other stops include the Old Stone Bridge, Mustafa Pasha Mosque, Macedonia Square, and the Mother Teresa Statue. Overnight in Skopje.
Morning departure to Stobi, one of Macedonia’s most important archaeological sites. It is the largest and best-preserved ancient city in Macedonia. Continue to Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where we will visit Saint Sophia Church, Plashonik, Saint Panteleimon Church, the Holy Virgin of Peribleptos Church, and the Icon Gallery (the largest in the Balkans). Overnight in Ohrid.
After breakfast, visit the Kalista Monastery, located high in the rocks with churches dating from the 14th-16th centuries. Then travel to Vevcani, known for its charming architecture and natural springs. Next, visit Tetovo, home to the famous Painted Mosque, built in 1438 and renovated in 1833. This mosque is decorated with over 30,000 eggs used to make its colorful frescoes. Continue to Pristina for an overnight stay.
Drive just outside Pristina to visit the Battle of Kosovo Monument dedicated to the 1389 battle between the Balkan Alliance and Ottoman forces, where both leaders were killed. Visit the Tomb of Sultan Murad I nearby. In Gracanica, explore the Gracanica Monastery, a 14th-century Orthodox church, part of Kosovo’s UNESCO-protected Medieval Monuments. Visit the ancient Roman city of Ulpiana, and return to Pristina for a city tour, including the Mother Teresa Boulevard, Scanderbeg Monument, the Clock Tower, and the “New Born” Monument, which symbolizes Kosovo’s independence. End the day with a visit to the Ethnographic Museum housed in an Ottoman-style building. Overnight in Pristina.
